The combination of embroidery and literature is one of my favorite things. Yeah, I'm a nerd like that. But there's something truly wonderful about paying respect to your favorite part of a book by slowly stitching each word. Over at Mr X Stitch, the appropriately described "number one contemporary embroidery and needlecraft blog on the planet," Beefranck has compiled an inspirational roundup of wordy projects. It was hard to pick a favorite, but I'm a sucker for satire and sci-fi. Told ya: nerd. The late Kurt Vonnegut enhanced some of his writing with his own drawings. Like his words, they are deceptively simple and hilarious. Smartypants stitcher Joanna is in the process of creating a series of  embroideries from illustrations and quotes from Vonnegut's various novels. How awesome are these?
