Given my unusually high capacity for lethargy (actually, let's call it languor, because that word conjures up visions of glamorous-woman-in-silk-caftan rather than the reality, which is disheveled-chick-in-sweatpants), my bedside situation is very important to my daily "functionality." Right now, I'm using the edge of an adjacent dresser as a nightstand, which I've topped with a large porcelain Cuatro tray by CB2 for, you know, flair-charm. There, alongside pens, hair clips and one vintage brooch of gold roses, resides two Moleskine notebooks (where I scribble interview Q's and to-do lists, not feelings), a super-treasured original Swiss Army watch (not yet reflecting daylight savings time), a tube of coral-hued Prescriptives custom lip gloss (I'll never stray from Nars again) and Gilead by Marilynne Robinson (a.k.a. the water-glass coaster). But, I digress. My humble environs got me ruminating about more creative settings. If you've got a stylish arrangement to crow about, I want deets. Or, if you just want to divulge the contents of your own bedside composition, trust me, I'm rapt with wonder. No detail is too mundane. So, spill.

(Left, via mattersofstyleblog.com): Don't have a stack of vintage Louis Vuitton valises to call a nightstand? Try working with hard-case luggage from days of yore instead, as seen here and here. (Right, via apartmenttherapy.com): Why wouldn't you use a bar cart as a bedside table?

(Left, via decor8blog.com): How's this for a novel concept—NO bedside table. Cheap and chic. (Right, via livingetc.com): I like the way this looks, but methinks you'd end up using the floor as a catch-all for bedside necessities rather than the ladder. On the bright side, it's a natural clotheshorse.
