I've been borderline obsessed with chairs for as long as I can remember (although, admittedly, few get me fired up quite like Todd Oldham's Adirondack makeover), so naturally, Gamper Martino's project '100 Chairs in 100 Days' is pretty high on my list of Things That Are Insanely Awesome. What began as an installation in London has now blossomed into a lovely book (which you can order online right here), covering Gamper's project in full detail---chair by chair. So why the sudden urge to create 100 chairs? ‘There is no perfect chair," Gamper once said, as he decided to deconstruct chairs from discarded and donated piles to create new chairs with already existing elements. Working with materials ranging from pipe dresses to go-karts, the result is a collection of 100 unique, hand-crafted creations that are [nearly] too pretty to sit upon. Amazing. P.S. See a detailed photo of each individual chair right here! [Images from GamperMartino.com]
