The One of a Kind Show starts today (we’ll be bringing you our picks, so stay tuned)—but what about “few of a kind”? There’s a website for that, and it’s called AHAlife, which highlights the best in design of limited series, showcasing one product and its backstory for 24 hours only. New day, new product, no exceptions.

Today’s pick is a mirror we can really see ourselves in. Framed with multiple layers of corrugated cardboard wide beveled to create perspective and depth, it’s been cut in such a way to capture and maximize a ton of light. It’s the best of both worlds, in a few ways: design and function, for starters; plus its style is sophisticated and raw, playing on 17th century Dutch beveling with 21st century upcycled materials. It’s handmade by Cécile Chappuis in her studio in an 18th century watermill in Provence. And it’s $575.

So OK, maybe you can’t get your hands on a fancy artisanal chamfered mirror, let alone a cool old watermill in the gorgeous French Riviera, but you can probably easily pull together an X-acto knife, some cardboard boxes, and a small piece of mirror, and get to work.

Why not make your own version inspired by this gorgeous mirror and send us photos by Friday, November 19th? We’ll put them up for a reader vote on our Facebook page! Send them to info@readymademag.com
