Modern Easter Eggs: 9 Techniques to Celebrate Spring in Style
Chris Gardner
Ugh...Easter. The bunnies, the chicks, Peeps, and, worst, the pastels. Now, I'm no holiday hater; I'm festive as can be when the time is right. But Easter decor turns me into a total Grinchbunny. It may be time to celebrate new life, but that doesn't mean your home has to be covered in plastic grass and full of ducks. If it weren't for the candy and fellowship, I might just forgo this one altogether.
But, straight up? Making Easter eggs is fun. Super fun. Just as fun as cutting paper snowflakes and wrapping gifts during the winter holidays. And you don't have to just snatch an add-vinegar-and-little-stickers kit from the grocery store. You should make your own. And since you're creating some from scratch, you can do 'em up however you like. And for me? That means modern. So here's nine cool, contemporary Easter egg techniques to celebrate spring in style.

No, those are some fancy, Eastern European ceramic eggs. They're natural chicken eggs, with a basic puff-paint pattern. It's totally one of those "Gosh, I wish I thought of that..." projects. See how it's done at Pickles.no.

Isn't it amazing how an ever-so-slight grass motif brings in some natural modernism?

This light, contemporary technique includes a sweet message inside. Get the full how-to at PoppyTalk.

These printing press-inspired eggs are typographic and delightfully offset.

This clever DIY paint chip garland isn't an egg per se, but it's Easter-y and contemporary and...genius!

Here's a natural dye and resist technique I came up with a few years ago.

And here's another natural dye job submitted to our Project Uploader from ReadyMade reader Sofie Sausser.
Happy spring, friends.
