Tricia Royal here! I'm one of the new fashion bloggers here at ReadyMade.
I'm a freelance fashion writer, designer, artist and mom who is based NYC-metro-area. I've got a background in art history and fashion design, and I'm the creator of
wardrobe_remix, a 5 year old, 15,000 member fashion/style-sharing community/pool on flickr.com, and have written for magazines like Adorn (R.I.P.!) and
BUST. I am a hardcore thrifter and longtime fan of old junky clothes (aka vintage!).
I blog over at
bitsandbobbins.com, where I generally post something like the following: info on independent, intelligent fashion designers/artists, covetable items I've come across online and offline, quasi-acedemic intellectual ponderings about the greater meaning of current and past events in the realm of style and fashion (from a cultural, political, and personal perspective). I also love to pass on cool tips/DIYs to inspire my readers to make their own interesting wears, and along the way, I share my personal obsessions and personal life. I also post
a weekly round-up of great photos/fashions that have been added to the wardrobe_remix pool.
My aesthetic is pretty quirky & colorful. I'm in love with contrasting, sickeningly bright color schemes, geometric shapes, hand-worked items, unsung or forgotten crafts or fashions used or worn in new, innovative ways, metallic gold, and designery stuff (clothing or otherwise!) that hails from Scandinavia, Britain or Japan. I'm always on the hunt for something novel...new or new to me.
What do I have in store for you ReadyMade readers? It'll be a little like what I do over on my own blog, but specially catered to you! I plan to dish about superb independent designers and artists and their inspiring work and wares, share what personally inspires me fashion-wise (hoping it might inspire you too!), offer up some fun tips for DIY-ing some your own wardrobe pieces, and maybe share a few of my thoughts on deeper matters of fashion and style.
Hope you'll enjoy it! Feel free to email me anytime with your thoughts, suggestions, or tips.
Thanks for having me, ReadyMade!
