Vintage-ize it! T-Shirt Aging 101
Anna Bond

The folks at Found Item Clothing (makers of movie/TV reproduction tees) have launched an exhaustive and informative series of posts on their blog, It Goes To 11, about various techniques and methods for “aging” your brand-new t-shirts into the cozy, faded beauties we all covet.
As the series unfolds, the intrepid t-shirt experts will experiment with adulterants from the scary (muriatic acid??) to the expected (bleach) to the adorably grandmotherly (vinegar and tea soak)—all the interest of showing you the best way to achieve the type of aged effect you’re looking for. In their words: “A comprehensive guide to what works—and, conversely, what doesn’t—when aging t-shirts.”
I haven’t tried any of the treatments yet, but I definitely have a few too-new-and-stiff band t-shirts languishing in my drawer that need some help. I'll report back on my results!
