Three Dinner Party “Dos” from Sunday Suppers
Tim Mazurek

Sunday Suppers is a series of cooking classes and dining events orchestrated by Karen Mordechai and Casey Solomon in Brooklyn, NY. They chronicle their work on the Sunday Suppers blog, which is an incredible source of inspiration for me. Each themed event includes a cooking class, a beautifully presented meal, and a take-home treat. The styling and attention to detail at each dinner is nothing short of extraordinary and Karen's photos are outrageously beautiful. The details are the sort of things that transform an ordinary dinner party into something really memorable and special.
Three inspiring ideas from Sunday Suppers:
1. Print out menus, either by hand or using your trusty inkjet. This costs almost nothing and is a great way to get guests excited about the food coming their way.

2. Consider the table. I'm always impressed with the table designs featured on Sunday Suppers. While we're not going to go out and buy new tableware for each dinner, we can do little things to make it feel special. I love the placement of a single kumquat on each plate. A pile of fruit, some twigs from your yard, a favorite piece of fabric, candles- there is no excuse not to put a little energy into the styling of the table.
3. Send something home with your guests! This can be a few extra cookies, a favorite recipe or another treat. A reminder of the good times. I love the idea of sending granola home, it extends the party into the next morning! (My favorite granola recipe is HERE) So, get thee to Sunday Suppers and find yourself some inspiration to make your next dinner party truly spectacular. And if you are in the NYC area, attend one of their events to experience all of this in person! All photos by Karen Mordechai.
