Four Course Fridays: Dust Off That Grill
Marc Matsumoto
With all the great design blogs, craft blogs, and tech blogs to keep up with, who has time to spend drooling over all the food blogs out there? That’s where I come in. Each week I’ll be choosing a theme and subjecting myself to hunger pangs as I scour the web in search of tasty recipes that anyone can make.
With the weather warming up and grilling season just around the corner, many of us are dusting off our barbecues, emptying the catch pans, and pondering how to bring our game outdoors. For this week's Four Course Fridays, I present to you, four dishes that'll really get your coals glowin'.
Course 1: Precious Thyme
When I'm grilling all I really need is an ice cold beer in a Neoprene cozy, but if you need something fancier, this Precious Thyme should fit the bill. Originally out of the The Essential Bartender’s Guide, Sloshed! has taken the remix on a classic negroni and given it their own spin.
Course 2: Grilled Salad
It might sound weird at first, but the smoke imparts a wonderful flavour to this Grilled Salad, while the high heat gives the lettuce more of a crunchy texture that's surprisingly pleasant. John, over at Patio Daddio BBQ keeps it simple with a balsamic vinaigrette and a little fetta, which is all the grilled Romaine really needs.
Course 3: Chicken Teriyaki
Chicken is such an under-appreciated grilling meat. It probably gets its bad rap from the tough, overcooked hocky pucks that are often served at barbecues, but it doesn't have to be that way. See how a few simple steps and the right cut of chicken can get you a moist, flavourful chicken teriyaki, with a lacquered teriyaki glaze.
Course 4: Tartlets with Grilled Honey-Vanilla Peaches on Almond Custard
Bet you didn't think I could find a grilled dessert did ya? Grilling is a great way to use those early season peaches that are a little too firm to eat. These grilled peach tartlets by Silvia from Citron et Vanille are the perfect sweet ending to your first BBQ of the season.
