Cookbook trailers are a great way to build up hype and spread the word about your new book while injecting it with fun music and loads of personality.
The first time I saw a cookbook trailer I thought what a piece of ingenious marketing. It was for the NYC vegan/gluten-free bakery
BabyCakes and the trailer was sexy and fun and had me singing along to Joan Jett & The Blackhearts. It wasn't a staged cooking demo or an interview with boring talking heads, no way! This cookbook trailer reeked of cool and gives the potential buyer an idea of what they can expect.

Recently, blogger
Gluten-free Girl posted a link on Twitter to her new cookbook trailer for her cookbook coming out in September. The video showcases the joy that Shauna, her husband and daughter have cooking together. It's sweet and touching and it makes you want to fall in love with the food you eat. And I presume that this trailer sets the tone for what you can expect once the book is released.

The most recent cookbook trailer to get on my radar is Baked Explorations, the second cookbook from
Baked, the NYC bakery. Here we watch the Renato & Matt bake up a quick chocolate skillet snack cake as they talk about their love for American dessert traditions. Cue the sweet music, plenty of focus pulls and lots of tiny toys amidst the colourful dishes, ingredients and baked goods.
