Eating Pretty: Throw a Pink Dinner Party
Jeannette Ordas

Years ago before there were such things as food blogs, my friends and I would always dream up elaborate dinner parties based on vintage recipe books we'd find at the thrift store. There was talk of picking a "Tahitian Beach Party" menu where everything was served out of a pineapple and garnished with marachino cherries. Needless to say, we never went through with these grand plans.

I've never given up my dream for a wacky dinner party. Somewhere around the same time I was flipping through those old cookbooks, I thought about throwing a dinner party where every course was pink. I grew up with a pink room, I dyed my hair fushia in the '90s, and I dig into a pink grapefruit every morning during the winter. What can I say, pink appeals to the girlie in me.
An all-pink meal is a risky proposition. You have to be creative and things need to be delicious—think "pink champagne," not Pepto Bismal. So before I plan a rosy-hued meal in real life, I'm taking the plunge here to plan it out course-by-course. A virtual meal as it were. And lucky you, because you're invited!
