An Apartment Bathroom “Renovation”
Megan Jeyifo

I lamented on my crappy apartment situation here last month, and the majority of commenters on the post and on ReadyMade's Facebook page gave me good advice on what route to take with the work my "vintage" unit needed: get out, leave while you can, it's just too much!
Against our better judgment, we decided to stay put. For now. The bottom line is that I like the work. I enjoy the sense of accomplishment I get when I've finished a difficult task and I love turning up my Al B. Sure Pandora station and singing along to New Edition or Tevin Campbell at the top of my lungs while I chip away at whatever is in front of me. Since we're in no position to buy a dreamy bungalow at the moment, making this place our own suits us for now. I may feel differently in a week when a new rental disaster comes calling but today I am back in love with my apartment.

This was our bathroom on Saturday morning. The wall was painted two different colors, the black medicine cabinet was chipped and disgusting, the cheap white wall unit was chipping paint and you could see the cardboard laminate underneath it. Not exactly a place you would want to relax and take a bath in.
