Head to the gallery between 5 and 8 pm and be prepared for some exquisite showmanship. 126_web How Do You Know Friday, August 7 (reception) Oakland, California Running through the end of August, How Do You Know is a collaboration that has been over a year in the making. Blankspace and Gallery 126 of Galway, Ireland, have teamed up to present exchange exhibitions in each country featuring local artists of the other. The pairing seems natural because both galleries are artist-run with an eye for experimentation, and 126 was created as an urgent response to the need for non-commercial gallery space. What this all means is that you will see some very amazing, very conceptual Irish art during the month of August. sf-arts-commission Art in Storefronts Accepting applications through Friday, August 14 San Francisco, California Vacant storefronts seem to be everywhere these days, and the San Francisco Arts Commission, in collaboration with the Mayor’s Office, wants to do something about it. Installations by local artists will appear in empty windows starting in September, but the applications for participation in this project are due next Friday. The exhibits will run through January, so now is the time to leave your mark. newclaudeversion3 Claude: The Monster, the Myth, the Legend Friday, August 7 St. Louis, Missouri At the Cranky Yellow on Cherokee Street in St. Louis, artists Jennifer Weigel and Laurene Franco and plush 7-foot monster, Claude, will be hosting an evening complete with handmade art and entertainment. The editors of the book believe that bicycles can promote social change and provide ties to a community, and this almanac serves as their ode to actually riding on two wheels--not the political undertones that have been associated with it. logo01 DWR Furniture Swap’n’Sundries Accepting furniture now West Palm Beach, Florida Finally!
