Welcome to the Wednesday feature here at the ReadyMade blog. Each week, I will provide a list of upcoming events, releases and happenings for the following Thursday through Wednesday. If you have (or know of) an event that you would like to be included, please shoot me an email, and I will do my best to make it happen.
Mister ArtSee Exhibition
Thursday, September 10
New York City, New York
Mister ArtSee is a vintage ice cream truck/mobile arts center, and it's just as fanciful as its name. The vehicle will travel city streets and as artist
Elliot Arkin says, it will be “like a Swiss-army knife, equipped with numerous extensions—a platform stage, video projectors, a podium—with the ability to fold out and open up to facilitate such projects.” It makes its debut this Thursday at
Half Gallery during the New York Fall Art preview, and then it will bring its art to neighborhoods everywhere.
Junk Ride 2009 Lecture
Thursday, September 10
Venice, California
The
G2 Gallery Lecture Series hosts two members of the
Junk Ride team, Dr. Marcus Eriksen and Anna Cummins from the Algalita Marine Research Foundation, as they share their experiences cycling 2,000 miles from Vancouver to Tijuana. The tour started in April, and the group road to discuss marine debris, sustainability and the
big, giant garbage patch in the ocean.

Richard Saja is at it again. Serving as the
guest speaker this month for the

Shelburne Museum.
Feria Urbana
Saturday, September 12
Oakland, California
Shopping locally is rewarding, sure, but shopping locally at an urban fair is just plain fun.
Feria Urbana will have everything from clothing to ceramics, and even baby items, to keep you occupied. It is held on the outdoor area at the back of
Pizzaiolo, and there will be
Blue Bottle coffee and toast with
Blue Chair jams. Go ahead, get there at 10 am and use that as your pick-me-up.
Red Cake Gallery Autumn Open House
Saturday, September 12
San Francisco, California
Chewing gum used as a mosaic medium?
Christina La Sala likes to think so, and the folks at
Red Cake Gallery are right there with her. Her brightly colored pieces evoke playfulness while still bringing a sense of calm and familiarity. The gallery will also show various works not yet available on Red Cake's website, and of course there will be wine and cupcakes!
Renegade Craft Fair Chicago
Saturday, September 12 through Sunday, September 12
Chicago, Illinois
At Wicker Park in Chicago,
Renegade is taking over for two wonderful days. Ride your bike and you even get free valet service, how amazing is that? With over 300 artists, you are really going to have to try to see it all—but when the
Black Bear Combo weaves their way through the fair on Sunday, they will give you a nice beat to march to... You may even see RM's own Amy there!
Platform21 = Jamming
Wednesday, September 16 through Saturday, September 26
Amsterdam, Netherlands
To mark the end of the design platform’s three-year run,
Platform21 is bringing in Japanese designer Yuri Suzuki and artist Masa Kimura to go out with a bang. They will reuse pieces from past projects to whip up an
all-day breakfast machine. It will fry eggs, toast bread, brew coffee and squeeze oranges…for two days only. But, for the eight days before, you too can help build the machine. Just drop in, say hi and bring your cooking expertise/mechanical engineering to the table.
