Here’s what’s happening in my food world this week…
Hello from Boston! I'm heading to the
Natural Products Expo today, which is my favorite (and the best and biggest) natural food show, which is the real reason
Virginia and I are in town. Imagine a convention center filled with rows of booths with food company owners giving out samples of their new organic products, talking up product launches, trying to get distribution, and generally trying to spread the word about their goods and you'll get the idea of what our day will be filled with. Fun, right? But in talking about our plans for dinner last night, V's husband Dan informed us that we
had to go to
Anna's Taqueria. He went to BC and Virginia spent a lot time here visiting so they have Very strong feelings about the chicken quesadillas. It was clear I was not to argue.

I tend to trust people when they are extremely passionate about a restaurant or particular food, so I readily agreed to make that our dinner last night. (On our way, we passed by the lovely Boston Common, shown above.) I decided to break their ordering mold and go for a roasted vegetable burrito, with guac, salsa, and cheese, and a side of chips and salsa. (P.S. I'm eating what I couldn't finish last night for breakfast as I type this and it might be better than the first time around!) Below you can see V's quesadilla, which was kind of rolled like a burrito. I'm happy to report that all of it was just as good as I'd been told—I'd describe it as an independent
Chipotle with better salsa and less dense burritos. There are a few locations around the city and the one where we were was packed with people picking up dinner. And with most of the menu under $5 (and much just a little over $3) I can completely see why!

Check in tomorrow for some sites from the food show, as well as to see how well I do trend-spotting and some general thoughts I have on how to survive this type of food-sample-heavy show.
