comes the Dream Rocket.

If you were to ask 'what is the Dream Rocket anyway?' that would be a more than fair question. Thankfully, the answer is pretty straightforward: it is a project in which the International Fiber Collaborative (started by Jennifer Marsh, the gas-station wrapping crochet artist in 2007)

hopes to connect with thousands of knitters, crocheters, and quilters to cover a replica of the Saturn V Moon Rocket, the first American space craft to land on the moon (check out the space exploration time line here - good stuff). Rockets and quilts, what? I'll let the fiber crew explain: "The Dream Rocket aims to connect art and education through a global collaborative initiative. It will inspire participants to consider, express, and explore their dreams for a better future using Dream Themes such as Energy, Space, Peace, Science, Recycling, etc. The Wrapping of the Saturn V Rocket will recognize the power of global collaboration, and in turn, The Dream Rocket hopes to inspire individuals all over the World not only to dream, but also to recognize their power to pursue their dreams."

You too can participate in this impressive project but space (no pun intended) is running out quickly. The rocket will be wrapped in May and June of 2010 but you've got to reserve your space today. What are you waiting for? While some might say knitting isn't rocket science now's your chance to prove 'em wrong—or at least come pretty damn close!
