The Big ReadyMade 100 Announcement
Liz Armstrong

Hear ye, hear ye! We’ve got a big announcement. Let us step up to the lectern, reposition our ties, clear our throats, take a sip of water, and begin.
We’re launching the ReadyMade 100, an annual contest to celebrate the best 100 projects from the wide world of DIY. And guess what? Those projects will come from you!
From now through December 15 we’ll be collecting entries via our Project Uploader Tool. You—any of you, whether or not you submit a project—get to vote on the projects you like while the contest is open. From there, we're putting it to our panel of judges: Eight of the brightest and most interesting makers, designers, and all around creative people will select their favorite submissions (name-drop: Instructables founder and CEO Eric Wilhelm is one of the judges, and we’ve got more to announce as we go along).
The judges will help us narrow the field down to one Main Maker, who will be awarded $500 and a three-night stay in New York City, which will include one night at a ReadyMade 100 party in his/her honor. The Main Maker's winning project will be featured on the cover of the April/May issue. And, as if that weren't enough, throughout the year the Main Maker will have duties not unlike Miss America—keeping us updated on your projects throughout the year, contributing to the website, and other fantastic opportunities—though neither swimsuits nor scandals are required.
The Top 50 Makers selected will receive some prizes too, including special badges, T-shirts, notoriety, bragging rights, and a spot in the April/May issue.
Here's how to enter:
Using our Project Uploader Tool, give us your most functional, beautiful, interesting, sustainable manifestation of creativity in any of the following arenas: Home & Garden, Food & Entertaining, Design, Craft, Fashion & Style, Culture, Travel & Places, Technology & Work. That basically covers just about anything you could think of, so sky’s the limit.
How to vote:
Click on the link saying “This gets my vote!” You can vote for an unlimited number of projects, though you can vote for each project only once daily.
So let’s get cracking—read our official rules here and show us what you’ve got!
