If you’re looking for an ambitious summer project, why not build your own canoe? ReForm School, a Los Angeles-based shop, partnered with master watercraft builder, JEM Watercraft, to create these plans specifically so that someone with basic woodworking skills can execute the project. Made with readily available materials (like plywood) that you can find at any home center, this canoe will have you on the lake in no time. The folks at ReForm School even offer online support if you spring a leak during the building process. Simple, cheap, and waterproof? We’re so in. Plans $48, reformschoolrules.com
