Three cozy ways to reuse old sweaters
Photography by Dustin Aksland
Pull the Wool
Moths ate your argyle? Transform those worn-out pullovers into felt by washing them in hot water and drying them on high heat (be sure to use sweaters made from 100 percent wool). Cut out a set of circular coasters, pour yourself a drink, and let the fleece catch drips while your table stays stain-free.

Hot Seat
Combat winter’s chill with this idea from Simply Green author Danny Seo: Use a sweater and a staple gun to reupholster a chair. Wrap the existing cushions in salvaged knits, staple the fabric in place, and sit pretty!
Computer Clutch
Keep your laptop cushioned with a button-up slipcover. Trace the computer’s dimensions onto the front of an old cardigan and cut the sweater where marked. Stitch closed the button-free edges, trim the excess fabric, and stow your gear in its snuggly new sleeve.
