Have an event to get to and all your faves are at the cleaners?? Just grab some old curtains! Yes... I said curtains. They come in fun patterns, textures, colors and hey... If your like me you have some extras lying around. Even if your not the best sewer, trust me, people will wonder where you got such a cutesy lil dress.

    Materials

  • 2 curtain panels (any length)
  • thread
  • iron
  • measuring tape
  • ribbon
  • 30 mins

    Tools

  • straight pins
  • iron
  • fabric scissors
  • sewing machine or needle

1

Hold your curtains rod side up (where you would put the curtain rod is the top). Measure down to your desired dress length (add 1/2" inch for the hem). Cut.

2

Place your curtains right sides together. Measure down from side seams about 11". Place straight pin horizontally thru both panels. Repeat on other side. That is where your armholes will be!

3

Sew side seams together with 1/2" seam allowance from where your straight pin is to the hem. Repeat on other side Press hem up 1/4". And the fold up another 1/4" and press. Sew hem just just shy of 1/4". Press.

4

Feed ribbon thru one panel and continue around back.

5

Tie shoulder strap at desired place and VOILA! You got yourself a super cute retro style dress! Martinis anyone??
