Refashion textiles to create interesting-looking beads.

    Materials

  • Cording (size should be as long as you want your necklace to be)
  • A few inches of woven ribbon

    Tools

  • Scissors
  • Needle and thread (or sewing machine)
  • Tape measure (or ruler)
  • Safety pin

    Cut ribbon into 2 and 1/2" lengths.

    Fold ribbon in half, inside out, with ends lined up.

    Stitch ends together about 1/4" from the edge with a small tight stitch.

    Put safety pin through the top end and use it to help flip the bead right side in.

    Repeat for as many beads as you want and then string on the cord.

    Viola! You have a necklace!
