This year when contemplating which size plastic pots to buy for my tomatoes I realized I already had an abundance at home. In fact, I had enough plastic kitty litter containers for the entire block to plant tomatoes in.

Skill Level

Very Easy

Active Time

Less than an hour

Cost

$

    Materials

  • kitty litter container 27lbs or larger
  • colorful duck tape or spray paint
  • plastic saucers 14"
  • potting soil
  • seedlings of your choice

    Tools

  • philips screwdriver/ drill/ ice pick/ screw (for making drainage holes)
  • garden trowel

1

Empty all litter out of plastic kitty litter container, your cat will be happy to help. Drill

2

Drill several holes in bottom of container. I used a large eye screw.

3

Use the colorful duck tape or spray paint to camouflage the container.

4

Add potting soil and plant seedling.

5

Place container on plastic saucer in desired location.
